Did it ever happen to you that when somebody sees your jewelry in live just can't believe it's the same piece as on the photo you published?
Do you often receive comments that it's to bad photos aren't better because the jewelry seems nice but it's hard to see because the photo is: -blurry
            - to dark
             -with a bad white balance
            - unfocused
             -with a too dominant background
-all of the above and something that right now I didn't
             remeber to mention

Do you even pay attention to these stuff? Is it important to you, or simply irrelevant?

When I started making jewelry, I didn't have my own camera so I had to borrow from my friends from  time to time to shoot some  photos just as a reminder of the things I made back then.
I thought my photos looked just fine until a freind of mine told me to pay more attention to background, lightning...and gave me some links to see  how it should be done.

I learned a lot since then, and still have so much to learn about jewelry photography, but when I compare photos then and now, the progress is visible.

I wrote some tips and tricks from my own experience with examples in my blog amorfiajewelry.blogspot.com/20… , so if you think you could use some guidelines, check it out ;)
If you have tips and tricks of your own, feel free to share them with us, I'll add them to the list ;)

And here are some examples of great jewelry photos from my favorites:
